About the role
In this role, you’ll:
- Manage a broad range of ECC cases from walk-ins and referrals
- Be supported in developing your ECC skills—including emergency surgeries and procedures

- A vet with 1–2 years’ experience in GP or mixed practice who’s keen to dive into ECC
- A team player with strong communication and time management skills

Small Animal Surgery Internship | Starting September 2025 | Full-time

About us
Peninsula Vet Emergency and Referral Hospital offers a wide range of clinical services including a 24-hour emergency service, surgery, internal medicine, and anaesthesia. Our hospital boasts a collaborative approach to patient care with a passionate team and positive culture centred around providing the best care for our patients. We are unique in that we have a close association with a five-hospital general practice group which provides a large and varied case load.
About the role
Our 12–18-month medicine internship program provides you the opportunity to work closely with our experienced medicine team with extensive exposure to and training in all areas of medicine. The learning program includes structured teaching, hands on experience, as well as participation in weekly journal club and case rounds. You will gain clinical experience in monitoring a wide range of complex medical cases, managing oncology patients and administering chemotherapy, and basic training in advanced medical procedures such as abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy. This is a full-time position.
About you
We are looking for passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic vets with a thirst to learn. To be considered for this position you will have current registration with the Veterinary Practitioners Board of Victoria, and a strong interest in medicine with a desire to advance hands on clinical skills and knowledge.
The position would be well suited to candidates who demonstrate the following:

About the role
This role is available part time or full time and includes a mixture of evenings, nights and weekends. Leadership opportunities are also available within the team for nurses wanting to strive for future growth and development.
About you
We seek a committed and highly motivated nurse with strong clinical skills to join our busy nursing team. To be considered for this position, you will have a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, experience in emergency and critical care, a desire for further education and training, and the ability to contribute to a positive team culture.
The position would be well suited to nurses who demonstrate the following:
